Message: “why walk when you can dance”
The message from the “Hornpipes” mandala came to me while coloring this mandala earlier this month. It’s all about putting joy in our step…joy in our movement.
I remember years ago seeing something that said “if you can sit you can stand…if you can stand you can walk…if you can walk you can run.” This mandala comes from another angle telling us how to do the sitting, standing, walking, etc….with joy and a lightness in our being.
Why would we want to do this? It seems silly. We do it because when we come from a place of joy, that joy radiates outward lifting the hearts and vibrations of those around us…even if we are alone when we do it.
Put some moves in your groove. Put some pep in your step. Put a wiggle in your waddle.
Need some help with this? Put on your favorite upbeat dance music and start moving…especially if it feels like the last thing you want to do. 10-15 minutes is all it takes…then carry that with you the rest of the day.
I start my day out with 15-20 minutes of dancing around my bedroom….it beats walking on a treadmill. I also do zumba and attend a weekly belly dancing class. It’s a blast. I always feel so much better after all of it.

Here’s a wonderful TED talk video that demonstrates how when people do joyful or funny things out of the ordinary, it lifts the spirits of those around them. It’s worth the 12 minutes to view it. www.ted.com/talks/charlie_todd_the_shared_experience_of_absurdity.html
Our assignment: find little ways to add joy into our movements and joy in the normal everyday activities that we do.
Do a little cha-cha while you wash the dishes. Our world will be a better place for it.
Have fun this moon cycle!
